CrossFit is a performance-based conditioning program that uses functional movement to develop a comprehensive fitness. It is designed to optimize your endurance, strength, stamina, power, speed, flexibility, agility, balance, coordination and accuracy. CrossFit is special in that it does not specialize in one specific element of fitness. Instead it seeks to blur the lines between “traditional” strength and cardio workouts by blending elements of gymnastics and Olympic weight lifting to create a constantly varied program.
Is CrossFit For Me?
One of the hallmarks of the CrossFit program is that it is inclusive. Anyone can do CrossFit. Each CrossFit workout can be tailored to suit individual ability. An elite athlete can do the same workout as a diabetic senior. These workouts vary only by degree not kind.
Intensity is the unifying factor in all CrossFit workouts regardless of ability. Whether you are just starting on your fitness journey or have been working out for years, you need to bring the intensity. CrossFit seeks to push you past your physical and mental barriers. What is the difference between a CrossFit gym and a conventional health club?
The experience at conventional health clubs goes something like this: You join for a month or maybe the year because “the price is better;” someone shows you to the weight and cardio machines and then you are left to fend for yourself.
